Sony Japan's PlayStation Press Conference began late last night with the PlayStation Vita. We can call it the "show-starter" announcement as opposed to the "show-stopper" the event wrapped up with. Sony revealed an all-new PS Vita model that's 20% thinner, 15% lighter and will come in six different attractive colors. Other changes include a shift to an LCD screen (still 5") and a 1GB memory card packaged in. The new model launches in Japan on October 10.?
Unfortunately there's no confirmation that the "New PS Vita" will be released in the western world, at least yet. It would be a great co-release for the PlayStation 4, don't you think? Then, when it does get released overseas it's almost certain to come in only one or two of the announced colors. That's just the way these sorts of things work in the industry, sadly. I would have loved either the blue or grey PS Vita! Ah, but let's not get ahead of ourselves.
All Sony Japan announcements made at their Press Conference event are Japan exclusive until otherwise said. Still, that shouldn't stop up from ogling the thing in its brand new trailer. Expect more details on the device at the Tokyo Game Show which begins on September 19, or in just under two weeks. The question is, is whether this is just Sony's version of the price reduction North America already received?
