Indian equities are likely to open flat trackingmixed global markets on Friday, Aug. 30, 2013. SGX Nifty is trading at 5,378.5 (07.25 am), 4.5 points higher than Thursday's close of 5,374.
Asian stocks are trading mixed in early trade on Friday. Japanese benchmark index Nikkei 225 rose 0.84% to open at 13,573.24. China's Shanghai Composite opened down by 0.01% at 2,097.22.
US stocks gained on Thursday. The Dow Jones industrial average was up 16.44 points, or 0.11%, at 14,840.95. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index went up 3.21 points, or 0.20%, at 1,638.17. The Nasdaq Composite Index gained 26.95 points, or 0.75%, at 3,620.30.
European markets climbed on Thursday. UK's benchmark index FTSE 100 climbed 52.99 points or 0.82% to settle at 6,483.05. French benchmark index CAC 40 rose 25.89 points or 0.65%, to end at 3,986.35. Meanwhile, Germany's benchmark index DAX added 36.65 points or 0.45% to close at 8,194.55.
Crude oil prices declined on Thursday. Light sweet crude oil for October delivery decreased 1.2% to settle at USD 108.80 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Brent crude oil for October settlement went down USD 1.38, or 1.2% at USD 113.78 a barrel on the London-based ICE Futures Europe Exchange.
