Hot Spots Around the World for Telemark Skiing

Since Telemark Skiing has made its huge comeback to the skiing world during the early 1900?s, more people are now enjoying this certain winter sport. Most skiers around the world consider this an extreme sport with its tricky and intricate movements that need hardcore practice. But considering the fact that there are already those skiers that are more than ready to take on this sport, there has been a continuous search for mountains and hills around the world that are perfect locations to organize Telemark Skiing. These said mountains and hills have to have rough terrains covered in snow to be considered perfect for this sport.

One of the famous hot spots around the world for Telemark skiing is the Eagle Point Ski Resort just located at the Tushar Mountains. For those who haven?t heard of the Tushar Mountains, this mountain range is just a 3 ? hour drive from Salt City Lake and just 18 miles outside of Beaver, Utah, USA. When you get to the base of the mountain, you will immediately realize that Eagle Point Ski Resort is not your typical resort with hotels and condo complexes. If you are looking for something mellow, you can enjoy their skyline chairs that lets you see a nice array of intermediate terrain. But for those people who love to do extreme sports, namely Telemark skiing, Eagle Point offers a terrain park and an 18-foot half pipe, and some untracked lines of the many steep, open run among the trees.

Another hot spot for Telemark skiing is in Chilean Andes which where the Portillo Big Mountain Telemark Camp 2011 was held. This mountain range is the border among Argentina and Chile. This mountain chain is perfect for Telemark skiing since it consists of proud, snow-capped mountains, incised valleys and of course, steep slopes. As Portillo big Mountain Telemark Camp puts it, if you practice in this mountain range, it?d be possible for one to be able to ski in almost any snow-covered mountain present in the world.

Sierra at Tahoe is another resort that is known for tree skiing and telemarking. If you are the avid Telemark skier, you have to stop by the bottom of the resort and find their Telemark Center. Not only will you enjoy skiing in their terrains, you will also meet other skiers that are friendly and are already experts in the sport. To those who have just learned the way of the sport, these experts can help you if you want to take lessons.

And taking Telemark Skiing to its country of origin, Stryn Summer Ski Center in Norway feeds off from the Jostedalsbreen Glacier which is the largest of its kind on the European continent. Stryn is open from the months of June to the end of August. In this Ski Center, you?ll probably meet skiers coming from different parts of the world. Also, it doesn?t only offer skiing to its customers. They also offer guided trips on the glacier and an information center that help foreigners know anything about the region.
