GRITTY GAME FOR PORT DOVER SAILORS

It's was considered a gritty game in front of a hometown crowd Sunday afternoon.

The Glanbrook Rangers had the Port Dover Sailors against the wall a few times during Sunday's Jr. C exhibition game. In the end the Rangers outwitted the Sailors to defeat them 6-4.

Port Dover coaches believed the outcome would have been quite different if the team wasn't short handed in the first half of the game. Despite the loss, fans were treated to an excited game that acted as a preview of what's to come when the regular season kicks off.

Goals scored by the Sailors: Matt Vansickle, Mike Almas, Speedy Parker and Ricky Johnston. Assists from: Larry Hill, Ricky Johnston, Dalton Alford, Josh Herter, Matt Vansickle and Mike Almas.

The Sailors will travel to Waterford on Wednesday to face the Delhi Travellers. The puck drops at 8 p.m.

HOLE IN ONE FOR GOLFER

It was Nate Vanni's lucky day on Aug. 31.

The 13-year-old golfer hit a hole-in-one at the Springview Farm Golf Course in Waterford. The shot was made on the ninth hole, 132 yards with a No. 3 wood club.

It was witnessed by Mark Vanni.
