Delhi University cut-offs reach record high; 100% needed for B Com at SRCC

New Delhi:? With competition increasing every passing year, students are used to cut-offs soaring high in Delhi University. This year, however, getting an admission for the extremely popular B Com Honours course seems to be Mission Impossible.

The first cut-off list for Delhi University is out and it seems like a student's worst nightmare. The cut-off at Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) is an unbelievable 100 per cent. (First cut-off list for Arts and Commerce)

Hindu has announced the subject cut-off at 99 per cent, while Lady Sri Ram College has placed it at 97 per cent. This is a clear five to ten per cent jump in cut-offs as compared to the fist list in 2010.

Now just Commerce, Science cutoffs have also broken all records. (First cut-off list for Science)

These cut-offs have left many shaking their heads in disbelief. Predictably, the cybersphere is also abuzz. Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has tweeted, "With these kinds of cut-off marks... I would have been doing a correspondence course because I wouldn't have even got a "pass course" admission..."....Well...I guess...that's a thought shared by many of us...." Union HRD Minister Kapil Sibal also called the SRCC cut-off irrational and said he will appeal to the Vice Chancellor to take note.

"In one college, in the commerce stream, the cut-off is 100 per cent. I felt very sad, I am feeling very sad, especially for the parents. Will request the Vice Chancellor to take note," Mr Sibal said.

The cut-offs are expected to go down in the second list, but by how much, is anybody's guess.

Colleges will start admissions tomorrow onwards. Four more cut-off lists will be released on June 21, June 27, July 2 and July 8.
