The New York Times Shared Services Center (SSC) is the Business Solutions Provider for one of the world?s premier media companies.

Located in downtown Norfolk, Virginia, the SSC is a centralized facility for streamlining many of the Company?s core business processes in Benefits, Finance, Strategic Sourcing & Contracts, and Information Technology.

We currently have an opening for a Payroll Tax Accountant in our Finance Department.

PURPOSE: To fund, report and file various tax returns related to employee withholdings as well as support the benefit funding processes for The New York Times Company including reconciliations and month-end close.

RESPONSIBILITIES: ? Ensure employee and employer benefits are funded timely and accurately ? Ensure taxes are remitted and reported timely ? Submit federal, state and local monthly, quarterly and annual tax returns ? Complete and submit workers compensation reports ? Investigate and resolve outstanding items on monthly reconciliations ? Respond to questions from business units regarding budgeting and FTE reporting ? Assist with documenting and maintaining department procedures

REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE: ? Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications ? Demonstrated knowledge of tax withholding laws

Demonstrate analytical, methodical and resourceful approach in problem solving work atmosphere ? 3 to 5 years progressive experience paying taxes and funding benefits ? Good verbal and written communication skills, necessary to articulate ideas and prepare analyses ? Good interpersonal skills, necessary to build and maintain relationships and interact well across all levels ? Ability to prioritize and ensure completion of critical tasks ? Ability to work effectively alone as well as in a team environment with minimal supervision ? Ability to adjust to changing priorities, circumstances, and personal interaction styles ? Ability to assess and inform supervisor of work related issues ? Good understanding of general accounting concepts and procedures

PREFERRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE: ? Experience with People

Soft HR ? Bachelor?s Degree in Accounting or Finance
