Chicago Wolves coach Craig MacTavish is out.

?The Chicago Wolves would like to thank Craig for all his contributions to the Wolves organization this past year,? Wolves general manager Wendell Young said in a statement Monday. ?We would also like to wish him and his family the best on his future endeavors.?

MacTavish, 53, got the job on Aug. 1, 2011. He led the team to a 42-27-4-3 record. His postseason record was 2-3, as the Wolves lost to the San Antonio Rampage in the 2012 Western Conference quarterfinals.

Previously MacTavish was head coach of the Edmonton Oilers, where he compiled a 301-252-47-56 record and .537 winning percentage in 656 games from 2000 to 2009.

The search for a new Wolves head coach is underway but no timetable has been set.
